From field insight to digital tools

Developing technology grounded in the realities of communities facing trauma

Technology may help extend the reach of mental health systems during a crisis - but only when it responds to real needs on the ground.

PreAct’s approach to innovation begins in the field. Through community assessments and pilot programs, the team identifies practical challenges in screening, triage, access to care, and coordination. These insights can then inform the development of digital and AI-supported tools designed to address specific gaps.

The aim is not to replace human expertise with technology. Rather, digital tools can help professionals organize information, identify people who may need additional support, and connect individuals with the appropriate level of care.

This relationship between field experience and technology is central to PreAct’s model. Tools are developed in response to observed needs and informed by the realities of the communities where they may be used.

By connecting clinical expertise with technology and design, PreAct works toward solutions that are practical, scalable, and grounded in human needs - particularly in environments where mental health systems may be under significant pressure.
